Who is eligible to participate?
The Business Hackathon is tailored specifically for students in Years 10 to 12. Both school-affiliated and independent teams are welcome to apply.
Teams must consist of two to six (2-6) dedicated members. We encourage a diversity of skills and backgrounds within each team.
How do we apply if our school isn't participating?
Passionate individuals are encouraged to apply independently by assembling their own teams. As part of the entry process, independent teams must submit a succinct recorded video introduction (max 3 minutes) that highlights their original business idea or solution.
Is there a registration fee?
There is no fee to apply for the initial local rounds. Our goal is to make the competition accessible to all aspiring entrepreneurs. Some costs may be associated with travel for regional and global finals, but we actively work with sponsors to provide travel stipends for qualifying teams.
Do we need a fully formed business idea to apply?
Not at all! For the initial application, we are more interested in your team's passion, analytical skills, and potential. The main Business Hackathon scenario is provided to all teams, so you will develop your core solution as part of the competition itself. Independent teams should present an initial concept in their video, but it can be at an early stage.
What happens after we submit our application?
Once the application window closes, our committee reviews all submissions. Shortlisted teams will be notified via email and invited to participate in their respective local rounds. The selection process considers the team's passion, analytical potential, and the clarity of their initial ideas (for independent teams).
What is the expected time commitment for participants?
The time commitment varies. During the three-month preparation for the hackathon, teams might spend 2-5 hours per week on research and collaboration. The competition rounds themselves are intensive weekend events. We've designed the schedule to be manageable alongside regular academic studies.
What kind of support and resources do teams receive?
All participants gain access to our comprehensive resource portal, which includes study guides, case studies, and workshops. During the competition, teams will have opportunities to attend mentorship sessions with industry experts to help refine their ideas and presentation skills.
