Mentor's Corner: Best Practices

Your guidance is instrumental. A great mentor facilitates learning without providing the answers. Here are some best practices for leading your team to success.

What to Do

Ask probing questions to challenge assumptions and deepen their research.

Facilitate resources and connect them with relevant articles, case studies, or contacts.

Help with project management by setting internal deadlines and keeping them on track.

Practice presentation skills with them, offering feedback on clarity and delivery.

What to Avoid

Doing the work for them. The research and analysis must be student-led.

Giving them the "right" answers. Your role is to guide their thinking process, not provide solutions.

Writing or designing their report. You can offer feedback, but the final product must be their own.

Over-structuring their collaboration. Allow them to navigate team dynamics and problem-solve together.

Appreciation & Recognition

Your commitment is the backbone of this competition. We believe in formally recognizing the immense effort and passion our mentors and educators contribute to its success.

A Letter to Our Valued Mentors

We want to extend our sincerest gratitude for choosing to become a supervisor and mentor. You are the guides and sources of inspiration that transform this competition from an academic exercise into a life-changing experience for your students.

The dedication you bring helps shape not just winning projects, but resilient, thoughtful, and capable future leaders. We are thrilled to partner with you on this journey.
